Happy Republic Day

About Republic Day: Each year India celebrates the adoption of the constitution on 26 January as the Republic Day. The constitution of India is the longest written constitution of any sovereign country in the world, containing 463 articles in 25 parts, 12 schedules, 2 appendices and 97 amendments. On 26 January 2013, Saturday India celebrates its 64th republic day.

How constitution was formed?: Post Independence on 15th August 1947 India was functioning under the laws enacted & implemented by the British. Later on after studying the constitution of other independent nations Indian constitution was enacted by the Constituent Assembly on 26 November 1949, which is known as National Law Day. The hope behind the newly elected Constituent Assembly was expressed by Jawaharlal Nehru: “The first task of this Assembly is to free India through a new constitution, to feed the starving people, and to cloth the naked masses, and to give every Indian the fullest opportunity to develop himself according to his capacity.”

Who formed the constitution of India?: The Drafting Committee comprising of Acharya Kriplani, Pandit Nehru, Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant, Maulana Azad, Sardar Patel and Dr Rajendra Prasad and many others…was formed just after 14 days of Independence i.e. on August 29, 1947 with Dr. B R Ambedkar being the Chairperson. on November 4, 1947 first draft constitution was submitted by Drafting Committee to the Constituent Assembly. After various sessions, edits & modifications over a period of 166 days spread over a period of 2 years, 11 months and 18 days, the 308 members of the Assembly signed two hand-written copies of the Indian constitution, one each in Hindi and English, on January 24, 1950 which were implemented on 26 January 1950. Thereby Dr B.R. Ambedkar came to be known as the father of the Indian Constitution. And the constitution is supported in two languages, English & Hindi officially.

Republic Day Celebrations: The main Republic Day Celebrations are held in the capital New Delhi. Smal scale celebrations are also held in state capitals, where the Governor of the state unfurls the national flag. If the Governor of the state is unwell, or is unavailable for some reason, the Chief Minister takes over unfurling of the National Flag of India. Each year a renowned dignitary is invited from other nations to be our Republic Day Chief guest & this time Bhutan King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck is to be the chief guest at India’s 64th Republic Day parade on January 26.

And once the Republic day parade begins we see color, tradition & discipline all beautifully coming together to life here on Rajpath, Delhi. One gets to see spectacular acts of bravery for example a human pyramid by 35 daredevils on 9 motorcycles, Guiness Book World Record Holder & Limca book.

Their skill is their remarkable timing, courage is impeccable & confidence is adorable.

Skill, timing, courage & confidence by the dare devils of Signal rockets is worth appreciating. Just notice how perfectly they balance & fearlessness of these riders too needs to be mentioned here.

Signal fighters’ soldiers display a rare act of bravery, 17 daredevils atop on three Royal Enfields. Royal Enfield is a very good bike for such acts.

Here, 22 daredevils on 2 motor cycles doing a lotus formation, which depicts peace & prosperity in the times of diversity. Perfect balance, you marvel the speed they maintain & the way they tune in their motor cycles.

Apart from watching Republic Day celebrations live or on TV, many like to send Republic Day SMS, wishes & greetings to their loved ones. Therefore, sharing with you few Republic Day SMS and photos:
