Son of first generation Cuban emigrants, Armando Christian Perez or Pitbull initially found his lineage and blue eyes being a problem in cracking it as a rapper. Today, those early doubts of 2001 might seem so far for this Cuban-American rap artist.
Armando Christian Perez or Pitbull
With parents separating when he was still very young, Pitbull was raised by his mother who kicked him out of the house when she got to know of his drug dealings at the age 16. Things could have gone worse but Armando graduated from school and decided to concentrate on music. Life’s been a constant fight for this artist and hence the stage name for he believes that like a pit-bull he’s “too stupid to lose”. From featuring on the Kings of Crunk album of the Side Boyz in 2002 to having his own TV show; from appearing on singles to six albums in half-a decade, Pitbull bring everything that he is to India for three highly anticipated live performances.
While India awaits to the high octane pyrotechnics, Pitbull has his own plans for India. He has decided to learn Hindi and is looking to collaborate with filmmakers here! With a background in television, Pitbull is extremely keen on acting and wants to explore it further. He’d be happy to know that some production houses in Mumbai are already toying with the idea of him making an appearance in Hindi movies. With Snoop Dogg slamming it with Akshay Kumar in Singh is Kingg a few years ago, it could very well be Pitbull rapping on some tracks soon.
Lineage and history is an important facet of Cuban-Americans and Pitbull isn’t any different. He has made plans of visiting the iconic and the ‘must see’ places while in India and his organizers have already requested distinctive and special welcome ceremonies to be conducted in three cities he’d be performing in. A special menu that would give Pitbull a taste of India has been put in place and in return the artist will reportedly don the Indian tricolor inspired clothes for his acts.
It’s not just the average fan who will mark December 2 in Noida, December 3 in Mumbai and December 4 in Pune on their calendars, there are celebs who’d be doing the same. Rumor has it that Shah Rukh Khan’s son and Salman Khan’s nephew are both huge Pitbull fans. Who knows the two might finally come face-to-face after years of a cold war. If nothing else Pitbull will have two of the biggest film stars vying for some face time and his Bollywood dream might come true.
