Ever since he first made the entire country giggle in Laughter Challenge 3 with his hilarious one-liners, ace stand-up comedian Kapil Sharma has won on every single stand-up comedy show till date.
However, Comedy Circus Ka Naya Daur, his latest show on Sony TV, holds a special promise for this accomplished artist from Amritsar. If Kapil manages to continue his winning streak with this show too, he may land a plum role in Sohail Khan’s next film!
The tempting offer has come from Sohail himself. The actor-director, who is one of the judges on Comedy Circus Ka Naya Daur had earlier declared that the winner of the latest season of the ongoing series will get a meaty role in his next film.
Going by his past record, Kapil, already very popular for his satirical and hilarious one-liners, might just pip others to the post this time too.
And if he manages the feat, viewers could soon get a glimpse of his histrionic skills too. Not many aware that the master comedian is also a veteran theatre actor, besides being an accomplished singer.
“Sohail’s offer is interesting. It is always a challenge to perform on this show as all the other performers are highly accomplished artists too. It is true that I have won on the earlier seasons. But that does not guarantee that it will happen once again. It all depends on my level of performance on that particular episode. The different actors I’ve had as partners earlier also contributed immensely to our victory then. Let’s see what happens this time,” Kapil says matter-of-factly.
His current partner is actress Ankita Lokhande. And according to sources within the crew of the show, the ace comedian isn’t quite happy with her performance so far.
In fact, even the judge of the show, Archana Puran Singh had once remarked that Ankita was like a car running on diesel while Kapil Sharma was that running on petrol.
Kapil’s tryst with comedy began in 2005 with a regional show titled Haste Hasate Raho, culminating in an appearance in Anees Bazmee’s film, It’s My Life. But despite being inundated with film offers – both Punjabi and Hindi – Kapil has chosen to go slow on acting. “Most of the offers I get are for the typical comedian roles. But I am looking for something more substantial which challenges me as an actor. However, comedy will always be close to my heart. After all, it is these comedy shows that have got me recognition and nationwide popularity. Besides, making people laugh is something that I have always enjoyed even as a child,” he said.
