Very exciting was the day for the members of Aspiration Ladies Club as they were to come dressed in saree or lahenga with compulsory seven shringaar, at Chandigarh Club, to celebrate Karwa Chauth.
They reached as early as 10.30 AM from Chandigarh, Panchkula and Mohali to celebrate Karwa Chauth in a different way. With loads of fun and activities they spent half of the day together with friends. Despite the fast, ladies took part in each and every activity.
Mrs Neepa Arora, founder member, Aspiration Ladies Club, said “This year we planned to celebrate our very special occasion Karwa Chauth in a unique way. This programme is to encourage those women who are jolly, fun loving, love to mix up and want to take part in various creative activities.” Few of the club members here got the opportunity to display their own handcrafted items made by them, like- decorated puja thali, decorated chhanni, vases with flowers, other artifacts to decorate home, accessories like pendants, earrings and bracelets etc.
The programme started at 11 AM and went on till 2 pm and still the ladies did not seem to be tired. All the games were related to Karwa Chauth, the main attraction of the programme was the catwalk by the member’s who were dressed according to the theme. A rapid fire round was also played in which questions related to TV serials were asked, most hilarious moment was when members were asked the nick names of their husbands.
Mrs Monika Singhal, co-founder, Aspiration, said “Lots of gifts were distributed to members in different categories, to name a few Best Mehandi, Lady of the Day, Best Hair Do, Best Dancer, Special gift to the lady with husband’s photo as wallpaper of mobile etc. Decorated ‘chhannis’ through which married women see moon at night were given to all the ladies as return gift which were decorated by members only.“
An unique thing was ladies were made to sit in groups, which were made according to birthday months and questions related to it were asked and gifts distributed. Ladies were full of enthusiasm, very lively and they were enjoying themselves in every possible way, a special comedy act ‘women are thinkers’ was performed by Neepa and Monica, the founders of the club. Every women were related to the act and laughed their heart out.
End of the day Ladies went home with hands full of gifts and the hearts full of happiness and promised each other to celebrate next karva chauth together.
