10 Reasons Why You Must Watch Tere Bin Laden

Ullu, ullu, ullu, ullu… Cos he’s a good-looking ullu da pattha!

Reasons for watching Tere Bin Laden:

1)    Here’s a comedy that’s firmly tongue-in-cheek. It makes no bones about the fact that it is taking dig at power. But at its heart it remains a brilliant satire that rebukes the system.

2)    The TBL Writer-Director Abhishek Sharma. This quite guy makes an interesting start—his writing is contemporary, he is aware of issues, his intelligence is obvious and writing is crisp and witty.

3)    The treatment: The Danka TV Channel with its crook of a owner Majeed bhai, a famously failed news reporter Ali and his sleeping lackey Gul, Noora, the kukkad farmer, the Murgon Ki Azaan competition somewhere in rural Pakistan, Ted ji, the manipulative US intelligence officer, the Pakistani immigration tout and his company called, if you please, Lashkar-e-Amreeka… there are many more

4)    Ali Zafar, the popular Pakistani singer who makes his debut as an actor and boy, does he carry the role of bumbling and US fixated reporter with aplomb… a good find. His comic timing is very good. Also, he proves that an artist can be multi disciplinary. Here’s a singer-actor for you… Oye, and he’s a good-looking ullu da pattha, yaar!

5)    Pradyuman Singh as Osama Bin Laden or actually Noora… is a laughter riot. He’s chicken-hearted, timid and funny, his only so-called manly act are those of his star rooster

6)    The film takes a dig at both: Pakistani obsession with America and US’ desperation for Osama

7)    The side characters…Majeed bhai, Piyush Mishra as the wig clad arrogant, greedy and obnoxious boss is a delight to watch

8)    Ace Delhi-based theatre person Barry John as the scheming and manipulative US Intelligence Officer is wonderful to watch

9)    Noora’s Arabic renditions and suddenly taper off to choicest of Punjabi gaalis is boisterously hilarious.

10)    The film’s short and sweet: only about an hour and a half.

Tongue firmly in the cheek! Kukkad-o-doo!

ONLY FLIP SIDE IS THAT THE HUMOUR IS NOT SLAPSTICK. IT IS CEREBRAL TO AN EXTENT. DON’T EXPECT AKSHAY KUMAR-GOVINDA BRAND OF HUMOUR PLEASE!!!!
